The Catfish of DeGray Lake

A New Bedtime Story Has Arrived

I’m so excited to share my finished book, The Catfish of DeGray Lake.

This story grew out of a local legend I’ve heard my whole life. “They say there’s a catfish in DeGray Lake as big as a boat/car.” Not a scary story. Just one of those quiet lake stories that gets passed down, usually at night, usually when the water is calm.

The book is told like a bedtime story, the kind a grandfather might tell his grandson while fishing under the stars. As the boy falls asleep, the story turns into a dream, and the lake begins to remember the land it once covered. Old roads, fields, and homes still live beneath the water, waiting quietly.

This is a soft, soothing book meant for slow reading. It’s about family, imagination, and gentle wonder. The kind of story you read at night, when everything is finally quiet.

I hope it brings a little calm to your evenings and maybe reminds you of a place that once felt like home.
